Access

To gain access to FNH190 Pilot Plant:

  1. Fulfill the UBC/LFS Mandatory Training.
  2. Schedule for a FNH Safety Orientation by email to Patrick.Leung@ubc.ca.
  3. Review FNH 190 Pilot Plant Policy.
  4. Review FNH 190 Pilot Plant Code of Conduct V02 Aug 20, 2026
  5. Review FNH 190 Pilot Plant Food Safety Orientation V03 Aug 20, 2026
  6. Once #1 – 5 are completed, complete the FNH 190 Pilot Plant Food Safety and Code of Conduct Assessment and achieve a minimum score of 90%.

Notes: You may go through the assessment as many times as needed until a score of 90% has been achieved.

  • In 3 business days, a FNH 190 Pilot Plant Food Safety and Code of Conduct Completion Certificate will be provided. You can then upload to LFS ATRS and proceed with access request to FNH 190 Pilot Plant.
  • Annual re-application of access is required. Please go through #1 – 6 for renewal.

Special Notes:

  1. Per UBC Safety and Risk Services, undergraduate students are not issued key or card access to labs. Access is arranged with the supervisor.
  2. The FNH 190 Pilot Plant is a food safe environment; a high level of cleanliness and hygiene are imperative to the internal and external users of the space. Users who do not strictly follow the FNH 190 Pilot Plant policy, FNH 190 Pilot Plant Code of Conduct and FNH 190 Pilot Plant Food Safety Orientation may have their access revoked. The space will be monitored regularly to ensure adherence to the policy and conduct.
  3. External users will have additional requirements including liability waivers and further oversight. Please direct external users to the FNH 190 Pilot Plant website.
